Two of my favorite things are Valentine's Day and dark chocolate...so what better ingredients to stir the pot when I heard February's Dessert Wars challenge was dark chocolate and hearts ( http://www.dessert-wars.com/2011/02/februarys-theme-dark-chocolate-and.html#comments).Dessert Wars

When I think of  Valentine's Day I think candy, pure and simple. I generally make a ton of candy this time of year too. I wanted to heat up the kitchen a bit though and think more out of the box and into the hearts of those I love  for this month's challenge. Thus, the Dark Chocolate Cake Truffle was born. I made a rich dark chocolate cake and then cut and molded it into quarter sized bites, injected it with a rich dark chocolate ganache filling and gift wrapped it with cherry flavored  vegan fondant, decorated with white chocolate hearts, dark chocolate leaves and toppers, as well as a ribbon of  red edible glitter.  

Dark Chocolate Cake Truffles1 I can't even tell you how much my husband loved these...you have to try them-- pure and simple.

These are so good that I am going to write an entire spread on the fondant too. So you'll have to check back for the recipe. I know, I know. I am such a tease.Dark Chocolate Cake Truffles6
